May go to track for first time this weekend
I just bought my L about 3 months ago and I have never raced it before. Actually, I have never raced any car at a track before. This is really my first "fast" car to ever own. Iv been riding crotch rockets for past few years to fill my need for speed.
Anyway, im thinking of going to the local 1/8 track on Sunday when they open back up. But I would like a few tips... i know with it being an automatic, there shouldnt be much to it, but I have a few questions
1. tailgate down?
2. burn out in water? (f1 tires, not slicks)
3. race gas? my chip isnt programed for it
4. i heard take off when u see yellow light... true?
5. what in 1/8 means 12.99 in 1/4
basically just a few generic questions, but really i need any advice you might have as I have never done this before...

#4 depends on your staging. Deep staging would require that you drop the hammer before green obviously.
As for your 1/4 mile speeds, that's no fair comparison, you can't simply divide by half. The second half of your quarter mile will comprise of much less time than the first.

1. Tailgate 'up'--I've done it with it down and with it 'off'. My best times where with it "on & up".
2. Always go around the water-box when running on F1's.
3. No race gas needed without tuning for it. In fact, race gas can slow you down without a proper chip-tune.
3. You always 'go' on the third amber light!
4. Not sure about the 1/8 to 1/4 times but my best ET of 12.531 had an 1'8th mile ET of 8.013 seconds.
