Is this a good deal???

There is a nice a white L about 200 miles from me that I'm going to look at the weakend and has minor mods like underfrive pulleys and a K&N. The truck has a nice custom hood that looks super sharp and everything is super clean. It has only 16700 and its a 2002. I can get it for 23k, from looking around that seems pretty good. OH, the truck also has NOS on it, should that worry me. I have had NOS on my past cars and they were fine, but I didn't abuse it. The dealer said a older man had it and barely drove it. What yall think. White isn't my fav choice but it still looks nice.

OLD man, w/NOS, Rob 02 has a twin? J/K.
sets off all kinds of flags with me. I'd get someone that knows about Ls to go with, if at all poss. also I don't know what he considers hardly driving thats still 8,300 miles a year.

See if you can get some background on that particular truck, Carfax.com etc. previous owner? (somewhat difficult) Service records? if you can get a name off the papers of garage ,dealer etc. that it's been to talk w/them before closing a deal.
They are great trucks, but easy to get screwed if you don't know about a used one, not saying it's a bad deal just take your time do homework before spending your money.

Thanks for the advice, I already planned on getting ahold of the past owner to talk to him and see whats up...hopefully its all good cause I really want a L, and my wife is giving me the OK and I still might be able to keep my sweet 90 that runs mid to low 8's right now. How do I post a pic in the reply for this forum?

When the day comes I sell mine,
some one will be getting a Garage Keep Senior Citizen Driven
Never Moded Never Raced Low Miles Lightning thats never seen rain or snow

You know what ND4SPD,
I wouldn't not buy it cause it has Mod's or Nitrous,
you can actually wind up with a great deal, a great truck,
and have it already modded which can save you lots of
money later.

Ya I have Nitrous, and truthfully speaking,
I would not consider mine abused,
NOT AT ALL a matter of fact, I change my oil and Fuel Filter
every 3k, I only have 12K on it, and I pick and choose my
WOT very carefully. I also don't consider mine over Juiced,
or nearly juiced too many times, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
But I guess when people hear Juice or know the trucks
been racing at the track, they consider it abused, I DON'T.

But like people say, it would be nice to have the history
of it. But if it starts quiet, runs good, smooth, tranny is tight,
you would have the same exact truck as lots of us and also
have the same odds we all do to have a sudden problem,
small or major.

If the price is right, and your comfortable with the owner,
I'd buy it
GOOD LUCK

LOL I knew someone else would come in Thanks Rob, You would be the one to know..
I just warn caution & homework to those looking at ones on a Dealer lot. They could be a POS they got from auction, Or the best deal out there. the sales person will usually say the best deal out there.

Thanks for tips and advice I really appreciate, if I get her everyone will get to see my new pride and joy cause I'll post a pic. So again saying the truck is mint w/ 16.7k on her would you say 22-23k is a decent price being that the miles are fairly low? Also How do I know if the blower pulley has been changed, does the stock one say Ford or anything like that on it. Thanks again

Lightning

Sounds like a good deal, but I wouldn't by a Lightning with NOS unless you know the owner personally. If you can get the true mechanical history of this Lightning it will make things much easier. If the mechanical history is clean then you will have a Super Deal. You should ask for dyno charts etc. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm going to try to get ahold of the previous owner tomorrow and get the DL, if all is good than it's pretty much a go. By the way the glow you did y/ the oval and hood looks sick and I'm one not usually into the whole black light stuff.

Stock lower pulley is a cage style set up
Here's a pic

An aftermarket pulley will look like this

Although there are some other style aftermarket set-ups,
take notice of the factory color's and style and just look,
you'll be able to tell immediatly
