What kinda 1/4 mile time should I expect?

I'm heading out this Saturday to Richmond for my 1st 1/4 mile passes of the season - VA dragstrips are starting to open.

Last season, I only went to the 1/4 mile track once and ran a 13.9 @ 100.5mph, w/ a 9.15 @ 80mph 1/8 and a 2.2 60'. However, I made several trips to the 1/8 mile track subsequently, and improved my launch technique and brought my 1/8 mile time down to an 8.84 @ 80mph w/ a 2.0 60'.

If I'm able to duplicate my best 1/8 time this weekend at the 1/4 mile track, what kinda times can I expect?

BTW, my truck is pretty much stock with no weight reduction whatsoever, and a K&N panel filter in the stock airbox.:o

I wish I could make it to the track this weekend, but I'll be at work either putting the new motor together, or pulling the old motor from my truck. could be worse.

good luck!

I hope you get a new best!

no predictions, but practice your burnout and launch technique and I think you can get those '60 ft times down somemore which should make noticeable improvements in your E.T.s

oh, screw it, if they are prepping the track on Sat, I say you'll get a 13.62!

later,
chris

Thanks Chris. I'll be heading down to Virginia Motor Sports Park with a bunch of guys from the C'ville area. Mike will be there with his modified Silver '00 L, Russel will driving his red '01 Saleen S281, Dave will have his red '00 Saleen S281 and Mike's cousin will be rolling with his '02 Corvette Z06. It's going to be one hell of a day!!!

I'm hoping for a 13.5-13.6 pass. I'll post my results Saturday night.

We only have a chity 1/8, it's better than nohting but I would much rather run a 1320 , anyone want to guess mine too....02L, K&N, 6lb lower, superchip, 2000 stall, 4:10's, borla cat back, decent f1's...

hey what is you launch technique? I cant break 2.4 or 2.3 with my 2000, but i also have a chip that has the torque reduction off, is that hurting me?

nope just the 1/8, and we just got that last year. It's better than nohtning. I've ran down that thing atleast 100 times or so my stang and my stang before that. I just hate it when Me and another dude are close at the end I know I could have pulled on him real good in 4th gear.

As I get the signal to begin the burn-out, I usually just drive around the waterbox and spin my tires a few times just to clean them off of any debris/ pebbles. I then coast up to the line and pre-stage. Out of courtesy, I wait for the other guy/gal to pre-stage before deep staging. When the lights start coming down the tree, I go on the last yellow, but only depress the gas pedal about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way. Once the rear wheel have hooked up (about 1/2 second or 20' later), I go WOT all the way to the traps. With 32 psi in my rear tires, I've cut 2.0 60' times this way. If I lowered them to 24psi, I know that a 1.9 would be possible, but I like to race my truck at the track as I have it on the street - just my little ****-retentive thing.

Thanks ICULOKN. Too bad you can't come out with the Harley and make a few passes. I'm hoping it won't be too packed, but I'll be getting there early before the gates open to let my truck cool down properly.
