I've also taken it up to about 90 or so on the freeway under natural driving - I didn't do a hard acceleration to get there.
I think I'll change my oil at 500 miles, and replace it with Amsoil synthetic then.
Have fun with it! I know I am LOVING my L!

You should wait until you reach about 5000 miles before you change over to synthetic, it gives everything time to break in and allows the rings to seat properly, at least thats what I was told. I use mobil 5w30 oil in my truck and it works quite well, also make sure to change your fuel filter every 3000-4000 miles.

To take one off the lot and run it WOT is asking for major problems because the motor is NOT ready for that. Changing the oil at 500, 1,000 and 1,500 is good as well because there “may” be some METAL shavings from the motor breaking in.
I have 500 miles on mine and have ran it pretty easy with no WOT yet. I don’t plan on running it hard until about 1,500 or so. If you want to seat the rings good, and other parts then do as most reputable engine builders will tell you which is to take it easy the first 500 – 1,000 miles and drive at varying rpm’s. A combination of freeway and city driving. It is not good to take a brand new motor out on an 800 mile freeway trip where you most likely will maintain the same rpm, which is not good for seating the rings.
If there is any professional engine builders on here it would be great to hear your opinion, and if I am wrong then to please correct me and explain to me where I am wrong and why…

Congrats on your new L. Bought mine in May 03 had something like 32 miles on it. Took her to 132 on the way home from the dealership. 10 months later and 20,000 + miles not a problem to speak of. Been to the track more times than I can remember and been over 140 quite a few times too. I drive the dawg out of her. IMHO maintenance is the key to reliability. So break it in according to your driving style and have a little fun!
