strongest battery holder

Where can I find a battery holder stronge enough to mount my optima battery under my bed upside-down? Something made out of some nice stronge aluminum maybe. Thanks.

somebody just posted a pic of a really nice battery holder the other day for an optima.

I need to do a search and find it because I need one myself and it looked good.

but as for upside down and under the bed? I think you are gonna be on your own to fabricate one.

good luck though.

later,
chris

As for an undermount, not sure, but I know Jegs has a nice looking alloy mount for the optima

I just did a google search for optima battery mounts or holders and apparently everybody with a cnc machine is making them out of billet aluminum.

I think I'm gonna get this one:

here are a few others:

this one's on ebay:

this one is kinda neat too...

I suppose you get the idea.

they are priced anywhere from $59 on up to $130 or more.

none of them look heavy duty enough to me to bolt upside down under a the bed though.

good luck.

chris

superfords, what about the picture of the last one you posted. What if I used grade 8 bolts instead of whats on there. You think that would hold it? Thanks for all the pics.

The one you are thinking of gettting Chris is very very similar to the one from Jegs.Only that one is better looking and dosen't give you any Jegs advertising..LOL.

They are pretty good pieces and I would trust it mounted upside down or anywhere. It's only going to be as strong as whatever you're mounting it to so keep that in mind Red-Rocket.

I agree with Chris. The underbed location makes it difficult. The logical mounting spot is ahead of the rear passenger side shock. It's VERY tight in there.

I made my own:

Tim, do you think any of the mounts picked above are stronge enough to mount upside-down? I really don't want to spend the time to make my own when one of these would work. Thanks

Why do you want to mount it upside down ?

Are batteries even designed to be used upside down ??

Thought it would be easier to use a pre-made battery hold down to mount the batter upside-down under the bed instead of having to make a holder to mount it upright under the bed like Tim did.

Optima's are dry-cell, they can be mounted any direction.

I don't know how many of them would fit -- that's the issue. They all look about strong enough. If you smack something hard enough to dislodge the battery, you've got bigger things to worry about.

If pre-made is really important, buy one from Stan Martin (Ruslow) from NLOC. Inexpensive and well-made.
