EGR Valve disabled

What affect would it have to disable the EGR Valve?
Would it noticeably affect the running of the truck?

Unless you have your chip programmed for it, the "Check Engine" light will come on.

I have made and installed around 30 egr blockoff plates in Ls and HDs ,with the chips retuned to turn off the egr light. No problem whatsoever. If anything the owners claim that thier trucks pull a little better upstairs.

Thanks for the replies, I want to clean up a little
and the EGR looks like crap under the hood. It gets too hot to paint.

I sanded mine down and cleaned it up real shiny then painted it with 1500 degree clear paint. Worked great so far.

pretty unlikely, the EGR system is inop at WOT.

it only comes into play at part throttle cruise if I'm not mistaken.

having said that, I too have thought of ditching mine in the name of cleaning up the engine compartment.

later,
chris
