well, I did a search and found that people have gotten the FRPP chrome SVT logo center caps from various places.
I heard that that tire rack had them for $35 a piece.
I believe that this is what they list for in the FRPP catalog.
I called tire rack and the guy on the phone told me that he, "couldn't sell them to me".
when I asked why, he said, it was because I didn't buy the wheels from them?
I said, no chit, I bought an entire Lightning, the wheels came with it. I didn't need another set.
he said it didn't matter, because "some people" might just by the center caps and stick them on non ford wheels and try to pass them off as original ford parts.
I guess I understand what he's saying, but if that's the case, then how did others get their caps from tire rack?
and if Ford cares about this issue, then why do they sell the caps seperately to begin with?
anyway, long story short, I ordered a set from Summit.
in stock, free shipping, should be here Friday.
later,
chris

hi guys, thanks for the compliments on the wheels.
I'll get pics up as soon as possible, but I won't have the centers till next week. so they'll have to wait till then.
oh, and contrary to popular belief, I do NOT have a money tree.
but to follow up on my Santa Ana Plating experience.
if you look closely at the pics, you'll see that the inside of the wheel is NOT polished like the exterior.
I paid and extra $100 for barrel polishing. I don't know if they couldn't polish that surface because of the way it's machined. (it has like a serrated edge surface to it, almost feels like the corduroy (sp?) pants that I used to wear in the early '80s! )
in any event, even though they aren't polished like the outside of the wheel, I got charged for the polish.
I contacted S.A.P. tonight.
they wanted me to ship the wheels BACK to them in California AGAIN at MY COST!
so they could re-do the wheels!
so I get to wait another 4 weeks, AND I get to pay for shipping AGAIN?
um.... no thanks.
I'm pleased with the way the wheels look, so I'm keeping them the way that they are.
Santa Ana Plating is supposed to be refunding my $100 bucks.
other than that, I was very pleased with my dealings with them.
I checked my records and it looks like I sent the wheels out on Tuesday March 16th.
I tracked the wheels via ups.com and it took exactly 7 days for them to arrive at S.A.P.
santa ana plating quoted me a 6 week turn around time because the spring is supposed to be their busiest time of year.
well, including shipping BOTH ways, I had my wheels back in less than 4 weeks! not bad at all. of course it would have been more impressive if they had gotten my order right the first time.
oh well, you can't win 'em all.

chris

yeah, I try to keep the insides of mine clean too. I usually try to scrub them everytime I clean the outside of my wheels. this is a little easier, since now I've got the shaved rear calipers to fit my 15" bogarts/hoosiers.
I can't wait to get the wheels on the truck. I've seen sonic blue '03 cobras with chrome wheels and I think it REALLY brings out the blue and metallic aspect of the paint.
