C'mon guys -- I understood the question immediately.
Yes, I saw a photo of at least one L that had a small scoop right over an open air filter. Looked great and could not really hurt aerodynamics.
The problem is finding the right scoop. The 924 Carrera scoop is a candidate:
But I think that a NACA duct would be cooler and more stealth:

dont know if this matters, but.......
A friend messed his hood up, and needed a new one. Anyway, you could alway's go to a junk yard and get a sligtly messed up one and do some altering to it to make it functional. If you found one with a dent in the right spot, you could cut that out and never see the dent with the new scoop. Mustang GT scoop would work perfect. Look nice and be functional.

I have started a project you might be interested in. My thought was to use the scoop as a means to vent hot air from the blower rather than suck air into the engine. I will be using both foglight holes as cold air intakes for the air filter.
This vent will be mounted under the hood scoop with the vents facing backwards.
My hoods scoop will be moved farther back on the hood, placing it directly over the blower
