How come F-250's don't have "torque reduction?"

Same tranny in the F-250, much more torque from the turbo diesel than Lightnings, and Ford is not worried about the tranny's life span in F-250's? Plus, F-250's are allowed to pull over double what a Lightning can tow. Same tranny, less torque in the Lightning, less weight in the Lightning, and less pulling load in the Lightning.

Question Is it the same gearbox, exactly ?

I thought the L had a lighter casting/housing.
Usually it is housing flex that causes misalignment and then the gears eat themselves...

Greg ?

FYI the trannys mentioned are not the same internally. With the L having superior parts. Maybe Gregg will chime in.

my f350 powerstroke shifts at 3250 and it seems like it has ome type of TQ reduction or long shifts.

Well, the short answer is because the Powerstroke never commands the 1-2 shift at 5200 RPMs, but it's a little more detailed than that, too. Suffice to say, RPMs and difference in RPMs after the event matter.
