They center electrode on my 2000 L plug is platinum. Look at the size of it. The Denso electrode is very thin. The NGK is a little thicker. The newer models could have switched to iridiums but the Denso guy is feeding you a line of BS about the older models.

This is a pic of an NGK TR6IX. It has a fatter tip than Denso's. The Iridiums have a skinny long tip. You can see my stock plug shorter fatter tip just like other platinum plugs.

I have been running TR6's for years in my boosted Ford porducts. My 1996 Vortech'd Cobra @ 14psi - 2001 Lightning 15psi (eaton) -2003 Lightning 15psi (eaton) and now 20psi (KB) with no real issues. All 3 of these motors had long tubes on them and that seems to help with heat build up in the combustion chamber.
I have never had any detonation issues that I could trace back to the plugs I was using. It always ended up being a bad tank of gas or a tuning problem of some sorts that I eventually figured out. The best thing to do if the truck / car in pinging is to stop hammering it and figure out the issue.
The bottom line is that the TR6's work just fine in my applications, I swap them out about every 10k miles and they always look good so I will continue to use them.

I can't let this thread die.
I've had "anomolies" since switching to BR7EF's on my 4#/CAI setup (rough idle, different exhaust note, a lot of backpressure popping when coming off the gas), so I'm looking to go back to the Motorcrafts. I changed my plugs at 15K just for the hell of it, and noticed that my stock Motorcrafts were gapped out past .040 on all of them, and were running great with my 4#/CAI setup. I gapped the BR7EF's at .035

Matias: Can I borrow your 7mm Uber-schlonging-torsen-bearing-coil-pack-unbolter this weekend? I'll order up some 12C's today.

BR7ef is the same plug I have in my Honda lawnmower. Use Denso 20 or 22 or stay with the stock plugs and you should be OK. 50K on my current Denso's without a glitch at .40.
