Hellwig rear anti-sway mounts backwards?

Hellwig -- 1.13" solid -- 666727 = 144% stiffer

Plus, since the Hotchkis is hollow, that number is actually too high.

The front Hellwig and Hotchkis appear pretty close.
I thought that the Hotchkis was stiffer?

We will be talking, then, cuz I'm definitely giving the Hellwig a try. Great. Another weekend of welding, cutting, painting, and wrenching.

I have the Hellwig bars and they will keep the truck flat as hell in the twisties. I worked with Hellwig on the L set-up. I bought the bars and then they would not bolt up on my L. After talking to them they said they needed an L to see what the problem was. I posted on here and NLOC and had them an L in two hours. They then sent me new brackets and made sure I was happy. Great customer service. The Hellwig bar is also made from heat treated 41 40 chrome molly. Here is the contact info if you need it. David is a great guy and will help you all he can.

Hellwig rear u-bolt position

This is the orientation that worked for me, slightly upward. Have good success with this setup on open track events.

NICE!

Where did you get the panhard parts? Did you do the fabriction yourself?

Got it from a cohort who wasn't going to use it, had it for a few years I think ( he has a Mustang and AMX), but it was mostly custom fab and welding, you know, tubing, rod ends, brackets. Wish there was something (long) like this on the market for us. I can't afford any lateral motion with my tight wheels /tires combo. If I can help with any specifics, please ask. There again note my u-bolts are nearly horizontal, which I spent alot of time adjusting, although I have a few obstacles under there not found on a stock truck.

And they are close you you, just outside of LA

I can get you these bars for a great price. We run this style on my latemodel and it works great and you could change the bars real quick to adjust to what you want.

But how in the world would I mount them? I seems to be that these are using a true torsion bar effect. That would mean a rigid side-to-side mount spanning the frame rails and downlinks/attachments to the axle, right?

Tim, I was just reading my "Grassroots Motorsports" Mag and saw an advertisement for "custom sway bars built to your specs or ours for approximately $150". The company is Saner and the phone number is 772-873-9227 or web site: www.sanerperffab.com. I have never dealt with this company nor am I affiliated with them. Just passing on another option. I was thinking of calling them to do a bar that would have a higher hump to clear the cover.

YEs it mounts rigid but the preload is adjustable. It will have dowlinks that atach to the axle. Each side is mounted by a threaded bolt with a eye on the end for the bar to go through. This way you can adjust the height of the sway bar and stil be able to keep t he bar neutral at a higher or lower height to start off with which would be good in you case. If you want i can take some pics of the sway bar setup on my race car.
