The Cervini is here and it is heavy!

Is it just me or does the Cervini 3" cowl hood I just got weigh more than the stock one. I have not yet felt the weight of the stock hood but when I open and close it, it feels pretty light. This Cervini on the other hand feels pretty damn heavy. Anyone noticed this?

All aluminum! Even the supports for the latch and hinges are aluminum.
I used to load them at about a rate of 150/hour until we stopped making them....................got to make way for the 04 parts.

Cervivi's hood

I just had my Cervini's ram air hood put on last month and the fibreglass hood is much heavier than the stock hood. The fit and quality are excellent but you do sacrifice some weight gain for the looks. I think it was well worth it.

Have you got a link for the aluminum?
How hard is it to keep paint on aluminum hoods? I'm afraid the heat from my black paint would cause it to POP right off in the parking lot.

Do any of you have a guess as to about how much heavier than the stock hood it is? If the weight gain is a lot, I'll need to call JLP for that chip and 2# pulley I've been thinkin about

I like your justification, I may have to call him for a 4# pulley adjustment

he means the stock L hood is aluminum. i wouldn't ever think of replacing it with something heavier, the truck is heavy enough! but i do like the way the cervini 3" cowl hood looks.

I like the new hood a lot and I haven't even put it on yet. But, to be honest, if I knew that it was going to be as heavy as it is, I never would have bought it. I agree that these trucks are heavy enough already which is why I've been reluctant to put in that speaker box I have. But, I have the hood now and it is going on heavy or not. Maybe I'll just take the bed off to make up for it.

in an older post here it had all the weights of the hoods posted. called something like "its a hood bonanza"

i believe the stock hood weighed 22 lbs and the cervini's is 42 or 44 lbs. :tu:

Thats one of the main reasons why we went from our Cervini 3" cowl hood to the Cervini 3" cowl pin on hood. The pin-on version is quite a bit lighter than the stock hood. I think hubby said it was 10-20 pounds lighter than the stock hood. Then we can factor in the weight savings for removing the hood brackets as well as the latch. Still not sure what the total weight savings is but hey its off the front & thats where it matters most.
