Question Aftermarket/Racing Radiator any interest??

OK here a little teaser post

I am posting this to see how many of you would be interested in a 3 row high performance street/racing Radiator. This isn't going to be cheep and it wont be for everyone, but it could be a great upgrade for the serious racers, and those of you in real hot places.

Jim and I are working with one of the major Racing Radiator Builders. they are making me a 3 row performance radiator. We sent them a stock Lightning radiator last week and they are designing me a radiator right now. I should have it on my truck in about 2-3 weeks and will let you know who is making it then.

It will be a direct bolt on radiator, and no modifications will be needed, well except maybee modifying the radiator cover since it may be a thicker radiator. We won't know how much thicker for a week or two. I think it will be so cool looking that you may want to show it off. If your looking for a lighter radiator, this won't be for you, since it will be all alluminum, no plastic sides like the stock radiator.

If there is enough interest Jim said he might stock a few of these, if not they will take about 2 weeks to make.

So lets see how many people are interested in a true performance radiator

There is really no need for one. The stock radiator is massive and more than enough to cool the motor adequately.

But if you must spend more money then sure?

If this radiator is as efficient as the Viper upgrade radiator it will be sure to drop enginge temp 20 degrees.

There is such a thing as overcooling. You don't want the motor to run too cold or else it wont be efficient with combustion.

Inefficient combustion = less power.

I think that we already have a true performance radiator. I have been in 110 degree weather, yet the engine is still cool as a cucumber.

My 2004 has the 1.42" radiator. Ford already makes an exact replacement in a 2.02". I had one in my last truck.

true... however, that's one of the reasons that engines have thermostats.

I personally don't see a "NEED" for this radiator, but it'll be a cool (no pun intended) piece and good looking at that, I'm sure some will buy it for the "bling" factor alone. some will buy it because it just looks racer style.

either way, it certainly can't HURT the engine or the truck's performance by cooling the engine TOO well, the thermostat won't allow that to happen, assuming you have the appropriate thermostat of course.

later,
chris
