Question - VSS Sensor Location? -

Anyone know the location and color of the VSS wires?

Says, " '99-01 F-150, F-250LD 4WD Left side of trans, towards top." that is the closest thing i could find to my truck in the instructions.

Can anyone confirm this?

Do you want the color of the wires as they come out of the transmission or as they go into the computer ?

I guess the trans.. im trying to install a speedo re-calibrator, and the instructions were kinda lame.

But i guess there is no difference splicing right before the computer? Thisway i figure everything will be inside the truck once installed, not half way under the truck...

You have to tap into the signal coming out of the trans. Im getting ready to call it a day but I will get you the colors either tomorrow or Friday. Shoot me a email and I will respond that way.

A GEn2 doesn't have a VSS, it reads off of the OSS (output speed sensor) which is on top of the extension housing on the transmission. The old VSS was in the rear end. Many people and manuals use the terms interchangably.

Only thing i found was driver side, almost top of trans, small plug with 2 wires... is this it? [yellow/green & orange/black]

There is also a small wire harness coming out of the rear end, but cant see how many or what color the wires are..

looks like the rear, almost dead center of trans (between the O2 sensors) is the wire the instructions are asking for (dark blue/yellow stripe) BUT its not the location they are telling me...

They say front of trans, driver side, top is the VSS... but the colors dont match.

Anyway, ANT thanks for the help, i think shaun was right on the OSS, as those wire colors match the instructions.
