Why Does Everyone Think Down On 99-00
Sorry, i just gotta vent. As far as i can tell around here and from these message boards once you equally modifiy a 99-00 lightning(which most are) to a 01-02 lightning, whats the differance. i've been kicking 01's and 02's azz at the track and the street with similar mods..,.....Some have kicked mine. My track times changed 0 when i upgraded to the 90mm, and i've raced several 01-02's with 3:73's, side by side. What i'm trying to understand here is why people say, thats pretty good for a 99. There is a group of lightnings in my area from 99-03 and they all run pretty close together, just depends on who spent the most money lately.....does anyone agree with me or are the few 99-00's around here just unusally fast and make the 400/500 mark with no problems. thanks i feel better now.

I would have to think it has more to do with the gearing then anything.
Maf and stuff are easy to change but most 99/00 still have the 358s.
So people assume there a little slower off the line.
With all the modding guys have done appearance wise I can't tell years apart anymore anyway.
Also not many stock ones left anyway.

I never really thought that. then again, I bought my truck in January, parked it in the garage, and put mods on it, started it in the spring ans straight to the tuner. SO I never knew what it felt like stock.
I'm guessing the Leaky intercooler has a lot to do with it.
Plus, everyone knows not to buy the 1st or 2nd year of a new vehicle, the manufacture is still working out the bugs.
Yup... that and they are finding ways to make it cheaper
Hence the weaker rods in '01-present

No complaints here.
My 00 has done the best of 7.99 in the 1/8 mile in upper 80 degree weather.
Haven't had a chance to make it out to the 1/4 mile track since I've changed
to PSP programs.
Should be good for 12.50-12.60's in the 1/4.
Current mods:
2/4 pulley combo
PSP programming
Art carr valve body
CAI (Airaid)
IT22's
90MM MAF
Full Bassaini exhaust (headers to tail pipe)
Factory 3:55's
