What have you guys seen with your Ice Cooler setups?

I just purchased a Vortech Ice Cooler for my 03 Cobra , just wanting to see what kind of hard numbers you guys have gained both et & mph wise with ice vs no ice?? Also I did some searching saw where a fellow member had it so the ice water coming out of the cooler went directly to the intercooler and then through the heat exchanger where as normally it would go from the resevoir to the HE then to the Intercooler. ANy info or results or tips would be greatly appreciated!

http://www.svt4me.com/supercooler.aspx

21RWHP 28RWTQ

2-3/10ths at the track

35-40 Degrees reduction in Air temps after innercooler.

I hate to tell you this but that Vortech Cell isnt going to hold enough ice to see the same results I got. I usually go through around 15lbs of ice per run. My intake temps on a hot day(85-90) are 85 and take off and peak between 95-100 degrees. Lately Ive starting expermenting with dry ice and Ive seen temps around 10 degrees cooler on take off and 5 degrees cooler peak. The advantage to Dry ice is, Im not draining my tank after each run, I get to leave my antifreeze in system and not kill all the cats and dogs around the track If you use Dry ice, be sure you have a vent on tank or else your going to have a mess.

Great info!

I never tested temps but 2-3/10ths reduction is right about where I was as well!

I made my 3 quickest runs with no other mods or changes. I picked up .06 in the 1/8 mile, but haven't run it in the 1/4.

I can melt the whole tank in one run. It carries about 5-6 lbs of ice in one run.

I have yet to build the bypass to pass the ice water around the heat exchanger. I'm sure it picks up some heat while going through it.

I have a homemade ice box with a ford ranger heater core for the exchange. It holds about an average bag and last for about 10-15 minutes on a warm motor. Manifold temps drop from 20-25 degrees when packed. Ive only been able to play with it on very hot days (88-100 deg in texas, IAT of around 100 - 110, IAT2 manifold temp of anywhere from 100 to 130+ underboost) and it makes a difference. A cooler day should yield a lower temp and better performance. Im soon to take it on the dyno and really figure out what kind of horsepower its really producing.

6tenths in the 1/8 Jay is impressive what size of ice cooler do you have sounds about as big as my Vortech if it holds 5-6lbs of ice. Sunshine your results sounds great as well and what exactly is the procedure or rerouting of intecooler hoses in order to go to the intercooler first and then back to the HE?? I am sure you will pick up even more with ice this coming fall, thats when I am planning to have everything installed for good fall air and put some ice in the Vortech cooler and see if I can go 10's. Any other info is greatly appreciated!

A little mistake in your math. .06 is 6 hundreths not 6 tenths. The difference is pretty big when you are talking about racing,

*edit #2* suavy--I'd like to see/hear some specs on how you set yours up...what you used etc. I came across a post A LONG time ago about you talkin about that, but I can't dig it up again.

dryice & alcohol, sounds interesting do you have more info?
I've thought of glycol & dryice, but glycol is pretty heavy.
