After Market Head unit and dimmer?

Does anyone have an after market head unit installed and working with the dimmer? I know that the stock ford harness does not have a line for a dimmer, but I was thinking about using the wire that is in the head light cluster, would this be a bad idea?

Thanks

John

Don't mess with any of the wires going to the dash cluster. If you are going to tap any wires go to either right to the dimmer, or the wire for the ash tray.

Speaking of stock units.

I noticed that my 04 doesn't have the speed/volume feature like the 99 had.

No biggy but it is something I liked.

Never thought about the lighting on after market units.
Good advice not to mess with the harness. Thats one of those areas you don't want to have problems with.
