High revs on starting

Does anyone know a way to avoid the high rpm starts? When I start my 2003 L, it goes to about 1600 and then gradually drops back. I'd really like it to develop oil pressure before it goes that high. I have a 2000 F250 V-10 that's even worse. It hits about 2 grand on start. My idea of a good start would be about 300 climbing to 800, not the other way around.

My 02 has always gone to 1200-1300 at cold start.

Best thing I could suggest is to run a full synthetic oil.

Or... if your flat out ****? There are pre oiler systems out there. I've seen them on turbocharged applications.

Does adjusting the TPS voltage help idle quality or change idle RPMs? I've always been told that the way to bring the idle RPMs down was to adjust the TPS voltage?

From: Colorado,
I don't like that ether but think about it another way.

There doesn't seem to be a history of problems that stem from it.

I wouldn't start changing things because of it. I think you would be asking for trouble.

I wonder if it isn't somehow emissions related???? What you said makes perfect sense.

This accusump pre oiler might be the solution your looking for. It also is use by track racers to eliminate oil starvation durring cornering in lue of a dry sump system.

Very simple design and it works. http://www.rv8.ch/article.php?story=...508&mode=print

perfectly normal, it's part of the cpus coding to warm the engine up faster. It's just how it is, don't worry about it.

From: Colorado,
I am embarrassed to call myself an amsoil dealer.

While looking for your pre oiler I ran across this neat product.

http://www.amsoil.com/products/amk.htm

I have no idea what the price is and am not interested in selling.
I just joined to shut my nagging engineer brother up and use a few products

I've seen similar products before and have kind of ignored them, because most engines turn over a few times before starting. Not so anymore, My V-10 lights instantly . The Amsoil piece looks pretty good and seems to be about $400.00. Probably worth it in the long run.

The thought that it could be emissions related is almost scary. But I suppose air quality does not suffer if all the emgine emits is a connecting rod.
