Thanks for the answers guys! And yes, I totally agree about the tuning part. But I live in Florida.....a bit far from Sal (I know Sal BTW).....however, I am close to REM. That's where I plan on getting it tuned.

Paul is going to email me a tune to run temporarily to keep it safe until I can drive down there.

Sup Gov,

I've had a 6# lower since the second week I bought my 04. No problems yet and it makes a big difference. Sam at Coastal dyno in Brandon tuned mine with excellent results. Its all what you want though, it is your truck, so you should do whatever pleases you the most.

My truck being a typical bolt on one. (and not that many bolt on's at that) I gotta say it's definately in the tune. And Paul at REM did mine. You can't go wrong with them IMO.

BTW: I'm running a 4# lower only and have had 2 trucks ever **PULL** on me. Once was loosebolt. w/his 6# lower, more mods, custom cams, and a dyno tune. The other time was a 5# truck and more mods. I was on my 3rd hot lap pass and had to switch to my street side of the chip. He barely pulled me. And I mean barely. (running on my F1s to his DRs)

Otherwise it's the same thing everytime. The 6# trucks pull me off the line by about a full truck length. I catch them at about the 2/3rds track area. And pass them on the big end taking the win. And these times I'm talking about were all before my porting of the blower too.

A 4# or 5# and Paul working his craft at REM will get you top notched results.

Rich (check out my web page)

I been running a 2 lb upper and 4 lb upper for 2 years now and have never had any problems on my stock bottom end. I been running a ported eaton now for 4 months and still no problems with the same cambo.

Go for the 6 lb pulley.

Now Tim,

won't you agree that a PORTED eaton, with substantially more flow going through it, will retain less heat than a non-ported Eaton>

Therefore it doesn't effect the performance AS MUCH as the unported version?

Sounds okay to me, but I wouldn't know either way.

I like the idea of the ported blowers, C&L plenum, intake spacers, etc. All of these pre-S/C mods seem to be capable of providing "free" HP, that is, power without associated negative reliability issues.

Yeah, don't fear the boost. Stick a small upper and a big 8lb lower on and get a good tune.

BTW: will be ok to run the 8lb lower for a few weeks till I get my new tune?

Just take it easy (aka, no 16# of boost) and you'll be fine until your new tune. I did it with my 6# until the dyno tune. All of this assuming you can control your right foot which is damn near impossible in these things Even then, you might be safe enough on your current tune in the summer to not have any problems. I wouldn't race anyone with the 8# until tuned.

I'll still take 6lb over the 4lb because of more boost/HP throughout the entire RPM curve. Everytime I increased boost on my non-intercooled supercharged Mustang (23-25 lbs) of HOT AIR it kept running faster. I have track tested my theories. I am comfortable with a little more heat in exchange for boost. It has always rewarded me with ET/MPH. I believe this is a result of more boost under the curve. I also think between 3k-5- RPM the extra torque helps move these heavy trucks a little quicker. Thanks for the charts.

It's safe as long as you don't:

1. Lean out.
2. Detonate.

I am running a ported blower and 6lb lower.
