Those w/ 15s, Please Advise!!
I got a good deal on some 15x10 rear drag wheels, brand unknown.
I know I need to grind down the brake calipers.
My question is, how far would your wheels go on before grinding the calipers?
These go on the bolts only about 1/8". Will grinding be enough to get these wheels on?

I had a set of special order 'Diamond' 15 inch steel wheels that were said to fit with a little grinding. They never did fit.
Be prepared to call a halt to the grinding at some point....
Like when you hit the disk pad support arms.
Yes, I replaced mine with new ones.
I finally got the special Bogard 15 inch Lightning wheels and they fit when the others did not.

halcyon, 1/8 inch doesn't seem far enough to start with.
The center of the wheel, called the 'drop well' is tapered
about 10 degrees from the outer flange inward.
The dia. gets smaller by about .35 inches for each inch inward.
If you needed to push yours' another 1 1/2 inches in, the inner dia. is closing down another .52 inches. Thats .26 off the top of the calipers. It's probably more because the wheel is already hitting and being held a little off center.
IMO, without seeing it in person, that's to much to try and clear.

halcyon, this mod is not one to be taken on by the average mechanic. To help clear the wheels I also relocated the disk brake backing plate on the axle tube. That requires pulling the axles out of the tube. Then milling the mounting holes off center 1/8 inch on the backing plates, clearance the disk pads and reassembling. I then fabercated brackets to redirect the emergency cable. Plus all the grinding! Good luck.
