Just give me a clear windshield

That's all I ask. I cracked my windsheild and am getting it replaced but the glass company says all they have are the ones with the blue or green sunsheilds. The do not beleive me that mine is clear. In fact a guy is driving to my house to verify that it is clear. Does everyone else have a clear one? Mines a 2003 DSG. And I want a clear windsheild, just give me what I had. Is that too much to ask?

I went thru approx 6 windshields in a 1 yr span, not my truck, but a work car. All I can add, is get factory glass! The aftermarket glass just doesn't hold up to rocks/chips as well as the factory stuff

I dont like how the early trucks like mine have the tint.... When I had all my windows tinted for real, they had to use a certain type to create an even look on the windshield... otherwise you can still see the factory line behind the new, lower tint strip

not that this helps, but I'm opposite of you too.

my '03 came with the clear windshield. if I remember correctly when my truck came in I searched the lot and found that Ford had switched to clear glass (no sunshaded windshields) on ALL of the '03 trucks and most of the cars as well.

Personally, I prefer the tint strip. it hides my valentine 1 quite nicely from prying police eyes (detectors are illegal in VA).

so when I got my windows tinted I had them do a "tint strip". It looked ok, but was a little too noticeable for my taste. (BTW, non factory tint applied to the windshield is also illegal in VA).

within a matter of prolly 6 months or less, my windshield got a rock chip that expanded into a huge crack.

I had the windshield replaced with factory Carlite glass, and it had the strip.

the installer told me that all the replacements would be tinted.

I don't know if that is still the case or not.

either way.

good luck.

later,
chris

I had my windshield replaced on my 2003 L about 2 months ago before I went on vacation. I was in a hurry and forgot to tell them to make sure it was a factory ford windshield so that it would be completely clear.
So of course the replacement was tinted at the top....I was dissappointed at first, but now I like it better then the original one.l

When I first got my 03 Lightning I became aware after a week or so that the sun was blinding me on the drive home from workand I didn't seem to have that problem in my old Explorer. I couldn't figure out what could be the problem. Then I realized - no tint strip - Duh! I would actually prefer that it has one.

I never even noticed if mine is tinted or not ???
Then again it took me a couple of years
(and crusing with other L's) to even find out we had Blinkers in the Mirrors

Anything else I don't know ???
We aint got R+H or anything like that, RIGHT ?
(the old timers will understand that one)

Dam I spend too much time under the hood...................
