Chris,

I wish I understood the problem everyone has with the BR7's. I ran them on my 99 at 12lbs. of boost and now I run them on my 03 with a four lb. lower and Apten port job making 16 lbs. of boost. Other than a slight miss on the 99 at idle I've never had a problem with them. My L is my every day driver and I have 29,000 miles on the set in my truck now. I did have a miss at 5400-5500 (only in third gear) the last time I did a track event going down the long strait-a-way but I doubt any cold plug will still work perfect after more than 25,000 miles. Do you think the BR7's cause poor mileage?

Jerry, the BR7s weren't a BAD plug, but they did have some minor driveability issues.

I only work a few miles away from my home, so alot of my driving is around town stop and go.

I never did a real measurement, but I feel like the minor missfires and such couldn't have been helping the fuel economy.

plus when JDM did my tuning, Jim suggested that the TR6 would be a better plug for my setup.

I'm sure it has to do with the tune more than anything, but I know that the truck is getting noticeably better fuel economy now.

-------

to everybody else, I found a set of the TR6s at the local carquest using the 4177 stocking number that was given above.

thanks.

also FWIW, I brought the truck in this morning and did a WDS power balance test, found that it was #6 showing the missfire, pulled the plug and while it didn't melt off, you can tell that the tip of the side electrode was HOT, and the porcelain is cracked in half. luckily, none of the pieces are missing, but the whole thing is broken, and the top area of the porcelain is just spinning around on the center electrode.

100 octane at the track from now on out.

later,
chris

Thanks for the feedback Chris. I assume since I drive 22 miles to work (all at highway speeds) that is why I don't have a problem with the BR7's. Never thought about that.

here's a shot of the #6 TR6 plug:

doesn't look too bad? look again, same plug:

luckily, as you can see in the first picture, none of the pieces are actually missing.

unlike these nitrous abused densos from last spring:

i found the porcelain from these laying inside one of my cats when I had the motor out this past summer.

those donated their lives to another shut down run: 11.85@a whopping 92mph!

later,
chris

Superfords, you ever race that guy you know that was talking all the trash? I know that was before you grenaded the engine, just curious.
