12.63@88mph!?

hey guys, just an update, nothing major.

I went out to Richmond Dragway today. I hadn't planned on racing today, but the recent rain finally stopped and it is a BEAUTIFUL day outside.

SUNNY, not a cloud in the sky and about 70 degrees.

a nice change from all the rain and heat we've had all summer long.

I only made one pass and had to shut it down early because it felt funny, I think I hurt a plug. I've never run these TR6s before, and I may not be running them again after today.

QUESTION: do other people have access to our plugs locally? or does everybody get them from their tuner or what? I've never been able to find IT22s, BR7s, or TR6s (these are the plugs that I've used in the past) through a local source. of course we don't have any real Ford performance shops around here either though.

but it COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA been a good pass. judging by my old timeslips it would have been an 11.8something on the street tune, no spray.

finally got a semi-decent 60foot time, lately I haven't been able to get out of the 1.75 range and have been running around 12.0s

anyway here's the slip, I was on the right.

was racing an old Chebby, I was whippin' up on him 'til I had to let off.

for comparison's sake, here's an slip from the first outing with the E.O.D. motor back in March (cold).
I was on the left lane on this one.

note the differences/similarities:
-------MARCH 60'-------MARCH 1/8 ET/MPH-------MARCH 1/4 ET/MPH
----------1.69----------------7.55@90.7----------------11.87@114.2

-------TODAY 60'--------TODAY 1/8 ET/MPH-------TODAY 1/4ET/MPH
----------1.67----------------7.50@90.0----------------11.??@???

oh well, maybe next weekend.

I don't know how the weather is everywhere else, but it's GREAT here, so everyone have a nice day!

later,
chris

I know the feeling, today I kept getting asked if they were for a motorcycle.

alot of the chain places don't know what to do when you ask for a specific part number.

like you said, they want to know "what it's for".

I tell them a 750HP F150 with a supercharger and nitrous!

if one of them comes up with the correct plug one day based on that information I'll be impressed!

As previously stated, you can find the NGK plugs at the NAPA stores around here. You may have to call around, but they usually carry what you need.

It sure is a beautiful day out today, and nice weather for racing. Looks like you will have some good runs in the near future. Glad everything is starting to come back together.

Shouldn't you be running a cooler plug, like a BR7EF? I had to order mine from http://www.sparkplugs.com because nobody locally had them in stock. I was in no hurry to get them, regular ground shipping took @ 5 days to deliver from CA.

Cheapest place to get the NGK plugs is Advance Auto parts. They usually don't stock the BR7ef's or the Tr6's but they take 1 day to get and only cost about $1.50 each. I usually keep several boxes so I don't have to worry if I have some or not.

maybe, but...

I was running some BR7EFs, but was getting some driveability concerns suchs as slight missfires, poor fuel economy, etc.

I was using the BR7s because I melted a set of densos last spring with the nitrous.

while it may be the perfect plug for my combo when using the spray, My truck is also my daily driver, and I think that maybe the 7 is a little too cold for around town day to day driving.

I'm running an eaton and not an insane amount of boost and no nitrous right now, so the thinking was that the tr6 would better suit my needs.

this is what Jim@JDM suggested.

I may try going back to the densos, I never had any problems with them on either of my trucks until nitrous came into the equation.

later,
chris

You might want to check into the Autolite racing plugs with the cutback ground electrode. I ran the AR94 for a little while and they performed flawlessly. They are the "strongest" plug I've ever used. I broke 2 gapping tools getting them gaped to .032!!

Bummer Chris,

I've heard that @ BR-7's many times, But I can't say enough GOOD about my Denso IT-22's
now through the 3rd summer ON THE SAME SET,
AND I PUT TONS OF NITROUS THROUGH MINE FOR YEARS

BTW, I learned the day I melted my TR-6's
TO ALWAYS KEEP A SPARE SET
(I got a spare set of Denso's for over 3 summers now)

As you said you were in a GREAT run, CONGRATS
I'd go back to Denso's if I were you, ""and gap bigger""
I run .038 - .040 and it runs perfect from 600 to 6000 RPM

Chris,

I watched you run today. It sounded liek the blower was SCREMING. Almost like a KB sound. I didnt know why you let off but now it makes sense.

Hope you get it worked out soon!

If you get the REAL NGK part #'s Pep Boys or Advance Auto can order you them.

Just ask for NGK 4177. That's the actual stocking part number. All the parts stores will understand it

I am currently running the Autolite's AR103's. I only have a 4# lower on the truck. Idle quality is very good, performance seems to be very good, and drivability, as a daily driver also, is very good.
