Carbon fiber hood? Anyone seen it?

So I was looking at a stylin concepts mag or something like that. They had a carbon fiber hood for 6 or 700 bucks. It looked cool, but didn't give any more info. It looked like the 03 Cobra heat extractor hood. Anyone have one? Or know any details? I need a new hood, and so far I like the stock hood best. I'm not into flashy design. I just want something smooth, low profile, strong and light. I would paint the CF hood all black, so its not like I'd be doing the rice thing with the CF look. Lets here some input!!!!

I've only seen the OEM-look ones and the Kaminari hood.

Why not stick with the stock hood. I think it is lighter than CF...

I don't know what the CF hood weighs, but I almost hurt myself taking the stock hood off. I was expecting it to be heavy

My stock hood is "rusting" or should I say "oxidizing" since its aluminum. Stupid Ford won't cover it under warrenty. Truck has never seen salt or snow. I may stick with stock....IMO its the best looking hood for a black L. If I had white, I would go cowl. If I had blue or red, I would go shaker.

Move to FL. This guy has had his rusty bed bolts replaced twice...and is going to have them replaced again!. You wondered why prices go up.

For those who don't want to click the link

"I have had my bed bolts replaced 2 times already, the last set ( 4 of 6 ) where installed 2 days ago and now they are rusty again. The dealer has another set in stock so I am bringing my truck back monday to have them replaced again. Anyone else seen this problem?"

WOW! 17lbs lighter than stock? Must weigh less than 5 lbs or something.
Did rob give you something to smoke?

I think you meant 17lbs HEAVIER then stock.

The stock hood is around 20lbs.

The product is offered in three different versions:
-100% Fiberglass composite materials weighing in at 32lbs,
-50% Fiberglass and 50% Carbon fiber for reduced weight at 24lbs,
-100% Carbon fiber versions weighing in at 14lbs.
That is a Cobra-R style hood, just like Cervini's...

Though if they make it in hybrid-CF, I may be interested.

I am pretty sure a full CF hood would be lighter than the already light aluminum hood. I took one off of my brother's Lexus and it felt like a piece of cardboard (weight wise, not structurally). It has to weight leed than 10 lbs.

You asked:
"How much does the full carbon fiber F150 FHE cost?"

Its currently 900.00 with a a 30-45 day turn around. This is considered a special order item.

all i know is that i have the Cervinis mach 1 hood and it is heavy!!! the stock aluminum hood is soooo much lighter i almost wanna replace the cervinis.. i doubt the CF hood will be much lighter then stock Aaron(Whip).. CF when it is made to be strong and sturdy has to have mulitple layers to it.. i think it might still be heavier then the stock hood.. im not sure though just my thought..
