I am just curious how many L owners breaks their fog lights? I am thinking about some aftermarket bulbs to make my fog lights looks a little whiter

having crappy lights is what causes it.

Question Sorry for not understanding

Are you referring to the lens that will crack or the bulb?

Talking oh okay

I see..........the lens is the part that is breaking...........
I modified many bulbs @ my friends body shops and the main problem with the upgrades are the plugs melting due to high wattages that was added and the stock plugs are not able to handle the heat........do anyone knows what other light set-ups that will fit in replacements? something like Piaa light will work or just bite the bullet and replace it with another stock one when needed?

from what I understand its because of the heatshield thats in front of the bulb... that gets so hot and its so close to the glass that it causes the glass to get extremely hot... then if it gets wet (rain, carwash, etc) they crack...

supposidly the 04 foglights dont have a heat shield and they arent having any problems.....???

HOLY COW

Maybe upgrading my fog light bulbs to a higher wattage is not a good idea then.............hmm..........its there a good fit replacement for an 01 L? I was looking at some Piaa ones, but not sure if its the right size or needs to modify the housing, anyone knows?

Not long after I bought my truck my lenses started cracking. You could rub your hand across the lenses and they felt smooth,so they were cracking from the inside. Now they look like spider webs. Both bulbs still work so if I were to replace them,I guess they would just crack again. If I get new bulbs would the 04 bulbs not crack the lenses? What about aftermarket, what ones would match the factory headlights? I don't want to have different color lights. My truck looks good except for the CRAPPY looking fog lights. Some people have had luck getting them replaced at there dealer,I think i'll try that way first, what bulbs should I tell them to install,if they will. The newest 04's?

May sound like a dumb question but -

I only use my fog lights in fog, which is not too often (here in England you can get pulled over for using them at other times). - Should I still count on having lens problems?

(If the answer is yes, I'll buy a set of 04 lens on my next trip to our NY office)

Mike
