Bassani Catback Install for L

Bassani Catback Install for L
I picked up a Bassani Catback System today for my 04L. I have read the thread posted by BMWBig6 back in Feb/2002 on a complete installation and instructions.
Is this still the latest and greatest on the Bassani install?
I opened the box and it still comes with the flat type clamps that everyone hated back in 2002! Surprised Bassani has not upgraded either/or they don't see it as a problem!
Anyone installed one lately?

My Bassani system came with band style clamps when I bought it about two years ago. I haven't had the first bit of trouble with the clamps yet. You have to tighten them up with a racket until the semi-circular spacers under the bolt and nuts are completely seated. Basically tighten them up as far as they'll go. I think if you do this and have the appropriate amount of pipe overlap you will be fine. I have checked and retorqued mine serveral times since then but they are still tight and holding fine.

A helpful hint.
Use ratching tie-down straps to "pull" apart the existing catback from the mid-pipes. Very useful when I installed my longtubes a couple of months ago.
