I get 10.5-11
dont worry man, ive got a 2000 L as well and we seem to be getting the same mileage as each other, only reason i get 15-16 on freeway is because its only hwy driving, ive got a 200+ mile drive home from college.

From Great Falls Montana right to Bell Road in Phoenix Arizona I figured it out to be about 11 MPG on the Highway, but I had a radar detector and I litterly FLY.

Whole lot of 'ageism' goin' on heah

My fairly modded out 01 L get's 14-15 MPG. I drive it about 75% of the time on I-75, running between 70-90 MPH but without going to WOT. That's the 'key' to me and differences in MPG. 25% is around town at 25-50 MPH. 5 lb pulley, CAI, chip, 160 'stat, BR7EFs(in over 30,000 miles now), c/b, RP 5w20 oil, etc.

And y'all laughed at my Plasma Booster Muuuuuuuuuuuuuahaha .

If you wanted good fuel economy why did you buy a performance vehicle?
I've owned many performance cars: Cuda; 'Vette; 4 Mustangs. The 440 Cuda got better mileage by a little. The stangs did by a good bit. And the 'vette by a wide margin. Can't say I expected this truck to get such bad mileage. But I was only making a comment, ok?

I hope you are not getting upset about this. The whole idea of a forum is to present comments or questions or else there would not be that REPLY button to click. Have a good one.

My bone stock '04 has not seen over 13 miles per gallon since last July when she was brandy new... As she started getting some miles on her I thought maybe there'd be a little better mileage... nope... But she got a little quicker! And that's just so cool! Hit 10,000 miles this week, don't give a poop about mileage... I just realized this truck has a radio last week...
Gotta love it!

My 2003 got 13 mpg during the first year of city and back roads driving. Gets about 12 now that I play with it some and put a cat back exhaust on it. By the way my stock 440 GTX and 427 (4.11:1 rear) Corvette only get 7 mpg, even with sane driving.

observation:

aren't the later Lightnings 03-04 tuned to run leaner? therefore they are using less FUEL. and result in better MPG

Mine's a daily driver...except in the winter of course. I spend $80 a week on fuel.

Well worth the money in my opinion.
