With traction, there's no way a Z06 is going to lose to an L with your mods. My buddy has a normal '02 'Vette. Stone stock, he runs 12.8's at 112 mph (2.1 sixty foot). Went to the track last Friday with him after he installed 4.11's and small street slicks, and this thing went 12.16 at 113, with a 1.65 sixty foot. The engine, exhaust, etc. is untouched. Needless to say I was mighty impressed!

I know for a FACT that bone stock LS1 Vettes run high-12s in Houston. Bone stock LS6 Vettes will run 12.1s in Houston.

I guess you wouldn't believe that my first time to the track in my '02 Z06 it ran 12.3 @ 116... stock.

Why call BS on the guy?

ZEM-

You should read and investigate a little more before you jump to conclusions. Stock LS1's run 110-114 in the quarter. If you don't think that's enough to run low 12's with traction, you don't know your way around a racetrack.

No problem here with that. I even go to New Orleans a bunch to visit my family.

On a different Topic, all of you guys in this thread I see from LA and TX, try and make the Lightning and Vette crawfish boil I'm setting up on May 7. Should be fun.

sounds like fun to me, crawfish, beer, and fast cars and trucks. Doesn't get much better than that.

I have some first hand experience with the Z06
I raced my buddy several times down @ E-Town in NJ
The best I scene him run was a 12.65 @ 117 with terrible 60' times I nudged him out with my 12.63 @ 108
We went back and forth a few times that night it was cold and our truck like that and the Vettes stock tires don't

I think the best he has run is a 12.34 @ 115 he has learned to launch that thing is the hardest part
I won't mention what I ran in it when he let me drive it and I have launched pleanty of cars the Vette is made to go fast and stay on the road not take off from a DEAD stop it just smokes and smokes the tires under the untrained foot.

As for other stock C5's I have never scene even a low/mid 12 in stock form even with BFG drag radials most were in the 13.0x to a very high 12.8x and most of these I believe to not be stock due to the way they sounded they atleast high exhaust ans a air filter

In short after my long babble session it really depends on the driver of the Vette and temps for the Lightning. If I was betting I would go with the vette in FL heat

Slick

Slow your roll BOOGIE! I never said it wasn't true, just said doubt it, as in hard to believe that 4.11's and small street slicks made this '02 vette go from 12.8 at 112 (stock) to 12.1 at 113!!
And I know my way around a track pretty well thank you.

Come on down to Houston Raceway Park and find out for yourself or if I drive back home I'll send you a post and we can go to a track there.

Okay, whenever you get back this way we can go to NPR. And we will se if you run 12.1 with an all stock motor, and 4.11's and street slicks.
