Actually the 400 had a 5.535 long rod (I think) and the all others were 5.7.
Also long rod or short rod motors are all relative to the stroke length. The rod ratio on our motors comes in at about 1.6 which I consider almost ideal for a good runnning engine with great cylinder heads ( great for 4V heads).
A 1.6 rod ratio would actually make our engines a bit of a short rod engine.

That just shows how quickly I've forgotten some of the Chevy facts and figures since I got the L. You are right about the rod being shorter than 5.7. It was (according the book I looked at) actually a 5.565 rod, which gave it a 1.48 L/R ratio. If the 5.4 is 1.6, I'm happy with that since 1.6 has always been considered a pretty good number among engine builders.

do you have any experience with ngk tr8ix plugs ??
i using tr6 now...but i've been having to use a 110/93 mix in the cooler weather to run my more aggressive tunes.
you didn't tune my truck...i'm not asking a tuning question
but , IYHO is that a good plug choice for 17psi plus boost ??
