Where is the Output Shaft Speed Sensor?

Where is the Output Shaft Speed Sensor?

Mine is toast....I picked up a new one..slid under the truck and damn if I can see it....

If your crawling under the truck it is tough to see. But you can feel it on the top of the tailshaft right at the end of the tranny. I could try and take a pic but i doubt it will be succesful

Can this be changed without dropping the tranny? Does the sensor have a gear on the end..the one I picked up has a gear....

Im not sure about all that. I just know mine came unplugged and the truck shifted real irradic and wouldnt drive right.

No gear, it is a small magnetic sensor. Unplug, remover an 8mm bolt, pop out and do the opposite to reinstall. -Mat-

Yeah I got it out....only to discover it is not the sensor that the Ford Parts Guy sold me...Nothing like pulling something out and not being able to shove a new one back in...

The numbers on the one I got..

DY-942

The part number you need is F81Z-7M101-AA

I think, anyway, let me check that.
