In the words of Rob02...

WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!

I got the SCT maf in today and got the truck totally put back together tonight after installing the KB,60lb inj,SCT MAF, and EGR DELETE. The biggest issue was I did not have a tune for all this hardware as my normal tuner is out of town till Monday. I needed to get this thing out of the garage so I emailed Sal this morning and he responded to my tune request within an hour and hooked me up in the same day with the tune. I really wished I lived even 250 miles from Sal... He is the man when it comes to Lightning’s!!!

THANKS SAL!!!!!

On to the good stuff....

The truck fired right up and idled great with the 60's. The KB has nice whistle at idle and sounds very similar to the vortech on my 96 Cobra. I let it warm up while I checked everything out and listened for any abnormal noises, everything sounded great. I shut it down and topped off the IC reservoir as well as checked the oil in the KB to make sure I had it perfect.

I mosey out of my neighborhood and out onto the road, the throttle response with this combo is really good. I drove around for about 20 minutes while just doing some light throttle inputs to see how the thing reacts. I am coming up to a long stretch of road so I turn off OD so it does not down shift and slowly roll into it at about 65mph. The truck leaps forward as I am watching the wideband and listening for detonation. It is pulling really hard when I look up for second at boost gauge on my column and see it’s all over 18psi!!!! I got a lil freaked out because I was only at 4600/4700rpms.

I figured Sal had the timing and A/F under control so I thought I would a little more aggressive with the throttle. I tried hitting it pretty hard like I would do with the eaton (6lb lower) and it would have none of it, it would just blow the drag radials off till I got out of it. It feels like a whole different animal.

I am going to be off all day tomorrow, and plan on giving her a nice bath then out for some fun!!!

Mine is making 578 rwhp and won't do that. I envy you guys! First gear yes, but from then on it's hooked.

I love my KB and it sounds like you do too.

Get that thing on a dyno! I made 476 with 14# on stock block, I bet you are in the 500 range with 18psi.

Good Luck BOB

What pulley combo are you running? I read you have a 6# (9inch) lower but what upper pulley are you running on the Kenne Bell? I am going to assume if you saw 18#'s of boost and you have stock heads that you are running a 3" upper with a 9" lower.

Glad to hear you are having fun with the new toys. Congrats!

Here, here
I just got my SCT Xcalibrator from Sal yesterday for the "break in" tune and will be heading up to NY (A 9 hour drive and crossing the border) in order for a dyno tune for my new set-up.

Yes the 9" lower and 3" upper

I drive in low boost & vacum 99% of the time so this combo is good for me. I dont beat on my truck at all and I am totally convinced that "its all in the tune"
