Intercooler pump quit?
#16
The pumps are only good for so many hours of operation. Mine quit on me with about 35,000 miles on the clock. Happened at the track and caused me some horrible times. Just ensure that it is truly bad. Would hate to see you spend the money on one and there be something else wrong. I think you will start to see alot more fail in the next couple of years. Good Luck!

I got it to work sat..
tested pump while installed in truck: don't work.
Took pump off truck: got drenched in fluids (yay)
Tested the pump direct to batt: works
tested the wiring where pump is mounted: works
I took the pump apart & cleaned it really good & got a lot of black dust out of it.
Reinstalled pump: don't work
whacked pump with wrench: works!
Loosened bracket a little where pump is mounted: been working every time I crank the truck!
Black dust from inside pump:
insides of pump:
working!
Over the weekend, I:
changed the fuel filter
fixed my fog lights (had a short)
cleaned air filter
fixed IC pump
changed radiator coolant
installed 139db air horn eek!
degreased/cleaned engine bay
washed truck & put on 2 coats of zaino
changed roommates fuel filter on his T/A
helped him wash/claybar/put 2 coats of zaino on his car
helped him degrease/clean engine bay
I am tired.

Just cleaned mine. After knocking out the dust I inverted the pump and tapped on it with a hammer and more dust came out.
Reassembled everything and it's working like a charm.

Mine was locked up so hard you couldn't turn the impeller with vise grips (75K miles)

Does anybody know how much HP is lost due too a bad intercooler pump? I just saw a video of an intercooler coolant reservoir, showing the fluid swirling, and mine looks nothing like that. Im gonna have to check the pump tomorrow to see if its working because I think it might be toast too.

Ummmm.. How do I search for your post if my post was made FOUR MONTHS before yours?
PS: something major must have failed on your pump for the impeller to lock up. You know, since it's magnetically driven, or something...

Yeah I really need to look at those dates ... LOL ... The Bosch motor locked up not the impeller ...

The intercooler will not run when first started if it’s cold outside. I don’t know what temperature activates the intercooler but if it is cold outside, or when first started, my pump does not circulate.
However, after a few minutes, once the truck engine warms up it circulates like crazy. Don’t know if that helps much but that’s what I noticed on mine since the day I bought it new with 5 miles on it.
