A sawzall? There should be a very interesting reason for using that I'm sure Joe will let us all know why he did what he did...

Supposedly mine are the handbuilt units... the first MB in my truck was purchased LONG before the Jasper deal came around. Im not sure what to do at this point, Im looking around at a few different options. I may go to the BTS setup and cut my losses.

Put down the Saw-Zall and step away from the transmission... I'd have to say that outside of all the other things like posting naked pics of your ex, not actually having a new Corvette (surprise, surprise) and claiming that you R1 was the end of all fast street bikes that you have been officially, undoubtedly, unequivocally and undeniably OWNED!!!

Whatcha got to say big Joey??? School us on the finer points of modding a Lightning - points that only you seem to have figured out...

I could see someone hacking off the "ears" to clear headers or something like that. I would have never thought the extending ears would provide any real additional stifness or reduced flex in the bell - I though they were there for tooling point during the automated driveline assembly in-plant - you know, lifting eyes. Am I wrong on this?

My bust. I just looked at another case. It wasn't the ear. It was actually the part of the bell where the cover bolts up. Paper thin.

I still don't understand the sawing of the bell thing. Will the guilty party elaborate??? Doubt it.

Cool,

I was thinking that the case must be ALOT weaker than I thought if those made a difference in cracking or not.

Greg - as one of these "lightened" cases is your demo unit, could you post pictures of the "surgery"? I am real curious about the mods and the rationale behind them. I sure that there was some thought about the benefit this would provide, but I can't see where.

NUMBNUTZ!

Gang:

I've earned a PhD in "pointing out what an idiot Joey is" over the past 5 years on this board. I thought that this moron was gone for good, but noooooo...

As for the Sawzall surgery, somebody told me about Joe-Whee's efforts a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly, the purpose of this butchery was to get better access to the converter drain plug.

You like apples? How 'bout THEM apples?

Always a good decision, or something.

Seems warranted to me. Someone comes here complaining about tranny failures. Then it is discovered that the complainer took a sawzall to the case.
