magnum powers idler bracket

I just installed the mp idler bracket with 3 stock sized pulleys and I have a 4lb lower. I called one of the mp vendors and they said to use a 68" belt which I have. The belt doesn't want to seem to fit and the tensioner is maxed out. I adjusted the 3rd idler as low as it would go but still nothing. Is there a trick to getting the belt on. Should i install the belt with just 2 idlers and then max out the tensioner and try to sneak the 3rd idler on? I'm at a loss and think i should get a 68.5" belt. Anyone know anything?

Thanks
Kris

Did you knock the tab off of the tensioner? If you did not try that.

thats what i'm trying to do, i don't want to break off the tab....i have a 4lb lower with a 68" belt and it fit perfect

then i added the magnum powers idler bracket and it doesn't fit...i've been searching and been finding that people are calling out for an increase in 1" when using idler pulley brackets

so i guess i should get a 69" belt, does that seem right?

Yes that is right. I had to use 1" longer on my MP bracket too. Sorry for the other short answer...

i called charles from magnum powers today and he talked to me for quite a while.

This is what he said....sal from psp has been testing only using the 2 idlers, the top one and the one on the drivers side. If you have a 4lb pulley you should be able to get on the 68" belt. If you use all 3 idlers you need a 1" longer belt which would be a 69" for a 4lb pulley. However he said if you break the tab off the tensioner you can get the 68" on there with the 3 idlers. I asked if this put to much tension on the blower snout and he said that it is a really heavy duty piece and it won't affect it with that much tension. I don't like the fact of breaking off the tab and I have already purchased 3 idlers so i'm going to go with the 69" belt.

Got the belt on after breaking the tensioner stop. Looks like the correct size w/4#lower and 3 idlers is 69".
