Talking Fiberglass sub enclosure done -pics-

It looks beter in person, without the flash the curves are much more defined.

The carpet is just temporary and will be the underpadding for whatever I decide to cover it with in the end. a JL 300/2 and 500/1 are going to be mounted in the flat center area.

I am about to start the same style project with all JL Audio stuff. What speakers are those? I will be using a JL 8w7 with a 500/1. I already have the JL 300/4 for the rest of the speakers. Looks very nice!!

Nice Matias!
Fiberglass is a B*TCH to work with IMO, but the results are always better than just plain old MDF.

Hit me up about the Fatmat session. I love stripping interiors of nice trucks

What mounting depth / air space? Can it accomodate the heavy 8 8W7? I'd be first in line to purchase that set-up

They're 10w3v2's. I'm using a 500/1 to power them and a 300/2 to power boston Acoustics Pro60 front components.

Mounting depth and airspace are whatever you want them to be, I custom built the box from scratch.

Weight wise, I can stand on the box, and it holds my 220lbs just fine, fiberglass is very strong

Thats exactly what I've had for almost 2 years. No where near the loudest, but a very clean sound for the type of music I listen to.

Pretty much the same thing with my box, and it sounds great.

Looks good Matias, but I thought you would have smoothed and painted it white or black instead of the carpet, but good job.

You have to sand the fiberglass down to be relatively smooth, and then smooth it out using duraglass or s similar product, followed by lots of filling with bondo and then sanding, then more filling and sanding. once you think you've sanded so much your arms are gonna fall off, sand some more. Then primer and paint it.

Bert, I would've smoothed and painted it, but didn't have the time or resources to do it. Maybe one of these days i will remove the enclosure and let a bodyhsop take care of that.
