Let your truck idle for a few seconds before you shut it off, and see if it smokes the next time you start.

Occasionally mine smokes on startup, and smells like gas. If I don't let it idle for a few seconds before shutoff.

Mine used to smoke everytime I started it after sitting all night. I did some reading on here and realized it was probley oil being sucked into the intake via the pcv valve. I bought a kit from one of the vendors {dont remember which one} for about 25 bucks and it cured my problem.

Pop of your valve covers...inside the valve spring you have a rubber seal, booth the intake and ex. valves have thease, ( valve guide-seals ) sometimes they harden and don't seal ( soften ) until the engine is warm. just a thought.
