Port the eaton or #4 lower?
Im tryin to decide what mod to do next either port the eaton or add a #4 lower. I keep goin back and forth on this one. With the price of these two being bout the same, if I do put a lower I will go the interchangeable route with a #2 for towing and #4 for the rest of time. Just wanted some opinions. Thanks. Just wanted to add that my current mods are AF1 with power pipe, xcal from mike troyer, line valve mod, electric fans , and 4x4 pan and filter.

I do plan on doin both sooner or later but I just want one for now. I was just wonderin which one was more bang for the buck for now. Ill do one now and add the other later on, probly tax time. Its my daily driver and im in the process of finding me a beater for driving back and forth to work.

I'm going to go with a 4lb lower, and port my Eaton also. But i'm going to go with the pulley 1st then get my Eaton done later, who are you going with on getting your Eaton ported?Along with porting, i'm also going to get it polished. I think they look sweet polished, i'm also going to get a C&L polished upper and elbow. That combo of parts really makes the engine look a lot better. It will just take time and $$$ to get it the way i want it to look & perform, but i've had more time than $$$ so far.

I forgot to ask you, are you going to have them strip the coating off of the rotors? I know they said that they reccomend doing it, i've thought about letting them do it when they P&P mine. I know what you mean about keeping polished parts clean, but i figured since it will be off and they'll have it anyway. I might as well have it done, because it looks so good all shiney!!

i just wanted to expand on my earlier post:
most of the guys that report ~20hp and ~20 tq gains are those that already have the 4lb. this is because the ported eaton apparently responds better to being spun a little faster. .... now I'm not saying you won't gain power, but you won't gain as much as if you added 4lb + porting
on the other hand, an otherwise stock truck will MORE THAN LIKELY not need a tune change or a plug change with just porting. I would highly recommend doing this though if you add 4lbs to that.
so.... in summary, you can do a port + filter and call it a day, ~15 total horses later.... or you can do port + filter + chip + 4# and we can be here welcoming you into the ~400/~500 club.
I say the addition of a chip and 4LB lower is well worth the ~400 bucks total
