keyless entry keypad stuff

ok, I get home from my vacation and try to use the keypad to get into my L. No luck. I thought maybe I had forgot the code since I was using the keypad on the Sport Trac for a few days and had that code in my head. Now I am fairly sure I am putting in the right code, but my keypad is doing something I have never seen. After a few attempts, the lights in the pad start blinking. Along with this my code dont work. Did someone try to use the keyless entry pad to get in the truck while I was gone and not get the right code so its locked out? what does the blinking pad lights mean? Just to make sure I have the right code, where can I find the code at? is it printed on the ecm?

any help would be appreciated.

Chris

From SVTLightnings.com:

The RAP (Remote Anti-theft Personality) module is fastened to the top of the firewall directly behind the fuse box. It can be reached easily when you lie on your back in the driver floor area with your head close to the brake pedal. Just look up and you'll see it is clearly marked and the sticker also displays the factory-set access code for your truck

The factory one is always available, but you should change
to one that is easy to remember, like you birthday or something.

That way when you're in an Altered State you can remember it!!! LOL

how do i set another code? my owners manual says nothing about it.

the keypad is pretty nice. I just lock my keys in the truck if im not going to be long. probably 5 times a week on average. Its nice to know I dont have to have the keys to get in. its pretty nice at night when im ready for bed and need something from the truck. i dont need to dig for keys, just run out there.

WTF, I just found one online and read that they worked via raido frequency......

I thought if I wanted one I would have to drill and wire through the door skin. Man am I an idiot.

Now I may get one, are they kept on w/ adhesive?

thats different than the system talked about here... 2000 and up Lightnings are prewired for Keypad - On my 2000

I just ordered the harness that had the keypad in it and the handle with the hole in it and it plugged right up ...

The RF adhesive ones came out later

It was about a 1 hour install on my 2001. The most time was spent on grinding the new handle weight down. Its nice to have when im out messing around with the truck with no keys.
