Talking Went to the track(1/8 mile)

Me and a group of people went to a 1/8 mile track last night for some fun. Along for the ride was a 04 Mach 1, n/a Saleen, Mustang GT, C5 Z06 Vette, Z28 Camaro, and a Firebird.

This was my first time at a track and I think I did farily well, though the track itself was not all that great. Most people there had problems spinning. Anyways, here is how I did.

(Black arrow is me)

Im running Nitto's all around at about 34 psi.

Here is my last run of the night.

I raced a riced out Mustang on this one and lost. He got the jump on me but I stayed with him the whole time.

How do these times compare to my mods and dyno numbers? Would the experts please chime in.

EDIT - BTW, one of the guys who went has videos of everybodys run. Once he has them ready, I'll see if I can post them.

I havnt been to the track since it got real hot. Bout a month ago I went to a local 1/8 and it was bout 70 degrees outside. I ran a 8.71 best with a bunch of 8.72-8.80 runs. My mods are xcalibrator, line valve mod, Air force one with power pipe, flex a lite elecric fans, and true dual magnaflows. I think the heat got ya a lot. I was goin to go to the track last night since I added traction bars but it was just too hott round 94 for me to run a decent number.

I'm no expert but here is what I ran last year in my 02L, with temp's in the upper 80's, with the following mods: 4lb, apten ported eaton, throttle body, cold air, FTVB, Chip. dyno'd at around 425/519tq.

60ft: 1.950
1/8th: 8.285 / 86.37MPH
1/4: 12.905 / 106.48MPH
that was my best of the day.

if I started hot lapping, here was my worst time:
60ft: 2.163
1/8th: 8.668 / 84.69mph
1/4: 13.393 / 104.11 mph

I went last night. 81 dgrees, 80% humidity.

60' --- 1.867
330' -- 5.328
1/8th - 8.178
MPH -- 85.91

Mods: 4#, Ported Eaton, CAI, Efan, PSP racetune(100 octane), Dynatech LT's&HF cats, SBTB, HE 28x10x16 slicks. Full weight, 1/4 tank of gas.

I just got the slicks, so my 60' should get a little lower once I get used to them. (I hope to get some low 1.7's). Your times are close to what mine were when I had the same mods as you.

Every .1 you lower the 60' time will reduce your overall time by .2 in the 1/4 mile.

You need to work on your reaction time and your 60' time.

I went about 2 weeks ago to Bradenton and it was pretty hot in South Florida that day.....I'm thinking low 90's with about 90% humidity.....this is what I ran...

R/T.......... .438
60'...........2.012
1/8...........8.956
mph..........79.55
1/4...........13.93
mph..........98.14

My mods are .......ummm.... I don't have any. Basically stock. I do have a magnaflow catback.....and I was on TOYOS. (no waterbox)

Not too bad for my first time at the 1/4 mile.

I was hot lapping and waiting in line for 10 minutes to race each time don't help. Temps were around 90 degrees.

I guess it wasen't to bad for a first timer.

Are you sure you don't mean 10 minutes at the tree. LOL J/K

Good times and glad you had fun.

times look slow to me for your mods, could be the track or the conditions though. your MPH shows some decent power. I've been running right around 8.38-8.45 in 80* and ~ 60% humidity, 2000ft elev, 1.96-2.01 60' times (Hoosiers have slowed me down b/c my truck is stalling at such a low RPM).

try leaving as soon as the 3rd yellow comes on next time! the lights are .5 apart, a .500 is a perfect reaction time which means you left .500 seconds after the 3rd yellow came on. it doesnt' seem right to leave that soon but that's what you gotta do.... by the time your brain reacts and you stomp that pedal you've already lost about .200, then your truck is goint to take another .300 to spin up, engage, squat, and roll out of the staging beams (about another 8-12").

R/T's

You did well for your first time....gotta get those R/T's down like Sammy said. Bad R/T will get you owned by a lot of slower cars/trucks. Really good R/T in the L and you'll beat faster cars to the line. They don't like it when you do that!

I always wonder if folks can hear the whine of the blower as we bear down on them.

were you racing heads up... or bracket racing or anything???

if not, dont worry about the r/t's.... when i went to t/t nights, i was always so worried about gettting good lights... get the launch down, just do the first 100 feet then let out of it.. once you get that down, then you can start worrying about r/t....
