Lightning Overhead module in Expy Insert

Took the Lightning oem overhead module and made it fit into the expy overhead console. Had to build a support bracket to the F150 module so it fit just right into the opening. Also serves a dual purpose, helps support the piece when the user presses the mod button over and over. I also had to cut the L module in the front to make room for the front 2 screws. With this set-up there will be no worries about the Plastic Weld or Bondo cracking down the road. This is a great solution for people wanting an Expedition overhead, but wanting to use there oem module and wire harnes. It's plug and play now.

I just need to sand the front with some 120 grit to prepare it for a coat of plastic weld. Should turn out to be a nice piece.

Very intresting. How did you make the support bracket for that? This is something I am intreseted in. Along with your 'surfboard' gauge mod.

Why not just use the expy module? Have you done something else that I don't know/remember? I plugged my Expy module directly in.

Good work regardless.

Because I was a dumbass and bought a 99 Expy console thinking my 02 Lightning display would plug and play; the computers and fittings are different. Since I already had a good chunk of change put into "customizing" the Expy console, getting in touch with Steve was my best option.

So, the moral of this story is to make sure you get the correct Expy console to match the year of your truck.

Is there any visual difference between the expi consoles depending on the year (99-03)

Bracket is just a piece of aluminum slate from Home Depot bent with some big pliers and a hammer.
