99-00 have an 80mm MAF. 01-up have a 90mm. Both have the same mounting pattern but if you use the 99-00 intake the I.D. is smaller than most 01-up. Kind of like running a restrictor plate.

You Need to have a tune to run the 90mm MAF!

If not your A/F and fuel tables will be all screwed up and you'll be running VERY lean.

Or..... use the 90mm and buy an 01+ computer. You can find one for about $125 at the wreckers.

are they programmed to specific dach clusters? To avoid Odometer tampering.

No. All you need to do is re-program the Pats key system. The dealer can do this and check for about 1 hour of labour.

The only issue will be if you still have the 3.55 rear end the odometer will read approx. 8% on the low side. So when it indicates 55 you are really at 60.

I don't think that's a big issue as long as you keep it in mind.

An 01+ computer is also a bit leaner which accounts for most of the 20hp gain in 01.

NB. I did a test on a stock 00 on a dyno 80mm mersus 90mm. The 90 will lean the entire A/F line by 2 full points. The 99 and 00 run very rich, as low as 10 to 10.5 at WOT. The leaning of the A/f will give you 35-40hp gain but I don't like the A/F line. IMO it is just too lean in the 3000 to 4500rpm range.
On the other hand one of my buddies has a 99 with a 90 and filter. He runs it reasonably hard and has towed with it for over 4 years. This and many other observations point that timing blows motors more than a reasonably lean A/F. Having said that, I still think that the best option for someone who does not want a chip is to get an 01+computer which will easily allow you to run up to a 4lb pulley safely.
