Chevrolet Siverrado SS what a Joke
Here a real GM idiot for you, he states the
new Siverado SS will be running 11.4 quarter.
Yeah GM is going to build a truck that will out perform there very own corvette for 30000
grand. I told him that I would be first in line to prove the point " the Heartbeat Stops
Here".

The 6.0 SS with a Super Charger will run 11.4

In your dreams and GM dreams, thats why I see so many at the dragstip on saturday nights. If this vehicle ever goes in production I'll be the first in line to prove the point "the Heartbeat Stops Here".

His numbers are out of wack, but...
A 400 hp 6.0L with a forged bottom end, either for gm or made by someone else, would be a good nitrous motor...
The SS is N/A, meaning it will not have the nice low end torque the supercharger give the lightning. So If they even make it, which I doubt the will, it will still be slower, unless it go to the fat farm, and loses 500 lbs.

Hey guys, Sal here. The Silverado SS is due to be released in late 2000. But never fear, Ford knows this and already has power upgrades designed for the 2001 Lightning to up the power to, ahem, "compete" with the GM supertruck.

PFA,
I have a hard time believing that there going to have a 4V 6.0. They don't even have a sohc that I am aware of. One way or another you can be sure the SS will at least out drag the lightning. It sure makes it easier for chevy to wait for ford and then follow behind eh? This will be an on going battle, just like the mustang v.s. comaro battle.

fordification,
The 450hp 4v was relating to the power upgrades Ford has in store for the Lightning, not the 6.0 Chevy. I was referring to Lightningtuners comment about Ford upping the Lightnings power against the Chevy.

But being a little over a year down the road, they could have an upgrade in store for the already 5.4 4v in the Navigator. Don't forget about the upcoming Cobra R with the 5.4 4v it is said to have. This could very possibly be available to us.

I think a 4v 5.4l lightning is a great idea, but would really increase the price. They already produce dohc's for the cobra & the navigator, to include the lightning wouldn't be a problem for ford. I think they should definitely work on the efficiency of the lightning and the f-150's in general with the 5.4. The lightnings 12 or 13mpg is somewhat understandable, but 13mpg for the f-150, 2mpg less than the pushrod chev 5.3l (I know there are other factors that should be taken in account, like gearing), isn't right, considering it is a sohc,it should have an edge. Hopefully if and when the 6.0l SS comes out, it doesn't out power and provide better fuel economy then the lightning. I know fuel economy shouldn't be important when it comes to a performance vehicle, but it does measure the efficiency of it.
