thats a darn good idea Mike, to be honest with ya. it had crossed my mind once or twice. but from sniffing around very little it looks like they're not the easiest to check/change.

"Whistles" that suddenly show up are usually "air leaks" somewhere. A crack in a hose or line, hose loose on it's fitting, a leaking gasket, etc. I'd check every hose and line you get you hands on. Leaking gaskets on throttle bodies can do this too.

If it's a whistle that occurs only around 2000 - 2500 RPM and it sounds like its coming from behind the dash or just behind the firewall it's probably one of the heater hoses from the engine to the firewall. Just had mine changed and the problem is solved. Good luck.

mine whistled because of my cervini ram air hood. the inserts in the hood would whistle over 37 mph and drive me crazy.

(not my truck, just an example)
