Who runs a 4# lower pulley without a tune ?

Hello !

GermanLightning and me got our box with great stuff from SID....of SVTperformance.

I will get my pulley and NGK TR6 spark plugs the next days! I talked to 2 german Guys with much experience of tunes and they both told me it wouldn´t be a problem to run without a tune.
I would like to know your opinions.

Thank you,

André

I did for about a month without a solid tune, just the stock pcm. It ran just fine. But I also had new plugs put in when I did the pulley. It ran fine, I just didn't really get on it till I got the new chip for it. But for that month, it really didn't seem like a big deal.

My buddy up the street has been running a 4# and no tune for 3 years now. No problems. Of course I beat him with my stock truck, and he only runs 13.5's. I'm sure I could go faster in the truck, but I think the stock tune just fattens it. I don't really see the benefit in a 4# and no tune.

Andre, many have ran 4lb lowers without a tune. I would just stay away from the high speed runs on the Autobahn, until you get the truck properly tuned.

I ran a 5lb for a year and had dyno runs befor and after. The A/F was perfect.

When I had my 02 Harley, I ran a 6lb (about 4lb over stock considering the bigger upper) without a tune. The truck ran great and the dyno showed safe A/F's. I was glad I did it.

I am thinking about doing the same thing. What were your before and after HP and Torque numbers? Thanks.

The tune will unlock your trucks potential, much more than timing and a/f ratios.

you are taking an EXTREME and EXPENSIVE gamble on running without a tune.

it might run ok but the difference is running 13.5 with 375 rwh or 12.9 with 400 rwh.on a good tune(with race program of course )or here is a better example. no tune pull up next to a corvette and getting spanked.pull up next to a corvette having a good tune and pulling him.mmmm?????

Exactly!!

When I dynoed with just a 2#upper (can't remember the numbers right now) but on the second pull I pulled the chip (canned tuned) I dropped 25hp and 40ft tq. Why would you want to pass that up
I have ran without a tune on 4# also (waiting for new tunes) and I am fine as long as I keep the boost way down and NO WOT, if I dont it's detonation city!
