Post A little chip testing...

Hey guys, Sal here. Did a little testing with the chip at the track today. Been trying to get there, but the weather has not been co-operative as of late. Anyway, today was nice and sunny, about 79 degrees, 70 % humidity, and baro was 29.94. Wish the barometric pressure was a bit higher, but oh well. There's no way to launch the truck on the stock tires with the chip unless you baby it off the line, so I put the Nittos on. I really don't like running them because I lose 2-3 mph from the shorter height, but until I find a taller tire to run on a 16 inch rim, they'll have to do. Still had some traction problems, but when they hooked they worked ok. Base runs with no chip resulted in 14.1s at about 96mph in the so-so air. With the chip in, the truck went 13.72-13.77s at 100 mph. Speedo showed 120mph through the traps with the small tires I was pretty pleased with the reduction, but I know I can get more out of the high rpm power. Will have to get back on the dyno and make more power!! By the way, anyone who buys one of my chips or has one already, will get a free upgraded calibration when I do a revised one. You don't need to send the chip back for this either, so there's no downtime. Same goes if you ever want to change the calibration due to future mods.Just wanted to pass along the info, as I know many of you have been waiting for some results on my new 99 Lightning chip.

Hey Sal, JimmyJoe here! How come your chip isn't getting the 8/10ths reduction claimed by Mike Troyer of Superchips? No offense intended here, I believe that your results are more realistic. Congrats on your results!

Sal, What does you chip control?
Is it just fuel and spark, or is it more?

Also how is the weight transfer, with the small tires?

Hey Steven, Sal here. My chip controls everything in the PCM. The chip overrides the stock memory. What I program, is what the chip does.I can modify any computer parameter. Heck, I can even turn off the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System)system with the chip!I do have a "standard" program I use for the 99 chips, but if a customer has other preferances, then that's what I program. I don't charge extra for a custom program like other companies do. In the basic 99 Lightning chip, we modify the timing, air/fuel, shift points, shift pressures, torque reduction, torque limiting, and other functions. As for the weight transfer with the smaller tires, I didn't really notice any transfer issues.
