I cut one coil for about a 2 inch drop and "no" I didn't cut the stops. I installed the Belltech's later and everything worked out well.

A set of used 2 inch drop coils would be much safer and only like $60 or $75. It can be done but I suggest against it.
Where can I get them for $60-$75? I can't seem to find anything cheaper than $150.

You can get the whole FRPP lowering kit for around $125 plus shipping. And that's new.

I cut one loop out of my stock coils and got 2" of drop. Also removed the factory bump stops. Had the truck aligned and haven't had a single problem since. I had this done over 2 years ago. As far as ride quality goes, it rides a tad stiffer than it did stock.

I'm thinking of doing this to my L....I was wondering if there were any new opinions on this issue. Since I put the 20s on the truck it sits a lil to high in the front to me. I was thinking of taking 1 full coil off the front, and replacing my 2" shackles, with JLP 4" shackles. Opinions ??

I run the Hotchkis front springs on my 03L, I cut off 1 coil to achieve the ride height I wanted. Been running them that way for almost 2 years.

I have cut many, many springs on cars and trucks with no problems. 1-1.5 coils cut off will have no adverse effects if done properly....just make sure to use a high speed cut off wheel and NOT a torch to cut them.

Less heat the better.

O.k. KB thanks for the response. Does anyone have a pic of an L on 20" wheels with 1 coil cut off ? I just would like to see how low it will look. If its too low I'll only go 1/2coil. Will cutting these coils hurt the performance aspect of the Ls handling ?? I'm known to push an exit ramp a lil from time to time. lol
