Post A lurker no more

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been a lurker in this forum for about 2 months now.
I have had my red 99 lightning (without cowl screws) since June 15th 99. What an awesome truck The people at work talk more about my truck then either of the 2 new Camero SS's that were bought by 2 of my co-workers.
I want to thank everyone here for all the good advise and info I have been reading. Hopefully I can contribute to sum of all lightning knowledge that this fornum represents.

Just a piece of advice. I just put on a set snows for the winter. You have to be gentle with throttle or all you do is sit and spin, and spin, and spin......all the way through first and half way though seocond. Gotta get me a plaw for the front <g>.

I like the sound of "Arrest-me-Red"!! Good choice.

snow plows for the lightning are usually mounted on the rear. you can do your plowing in reverse, and the xtra weight on the rear wheels keeps the tires from spinning so easily on 1/4 mile runs. also is a great shield from tailgaters and would be assasins.

Question

Can't you start off in second or did Ford change the trannies in the Lightnings?

Thanks for the tip Andthensometoo.

I actually plan to use 2nd gear a lot this winter, and even in 1st with the snows on it's still easily drivable. I only meant that if you "mash" the gas off the line you can forget about getting them to hook up, unlike where the F1's will hook up after some spinning (on good dry surfaces).

Well, MRBBQMAN, I followed your advice and installed an old rusty blade off a wrecked D-9 Cat on the back of my Lightning. Works just like you said. Tire spin is a thing of the past and bullets bounce right off. Only thing is that now I need some type of cloaking device so that folks won't laugh at me for building a snowplow in Orlando.

P.S. An additional benefit is that it works as a lovely aide for parallel parking.

Hey wait a minute I thought I was the only one who had that color choice!!!! Well at least we know what our nickname is for our color for sure. Now all we need is one for black, white, and the foster kid color silver. Please don't put the word "fastest" in it or the thread will be the longest yet
Welcome to the club Snowplow.

Thumbs up

Mike, i doubt you will be able to cloak that big black truck w/shield. but to keep the laughs at a minimum, i might suggest either a "batman suit" so they will think you are just doing your job, or a huge loudspeaker on the roof and all will know, "you are on a mission from God"

Hey hitbylightninginKS, sorry about the colour part of my sig. I didn't realize anyone was using it.

Hey Ky.Lightning, all that info should be in my sig. Bridgestone winter duelers, P245/70/R16.

Amen, MRBBQMAN. I think I'll combine your suggestions by wearing the batsuit and mounting a humongus speaker. I will become a new superhero, "The Blues Bat".
