I just wanted to know if anyone out there has had problems with the superchip.

I have sent mine back THREE times for THREE different programs at a cost of $20.00 each time and I finally got it back friday after paying another $10.00 to get it overnighted to me in time for fridays last race of the season. I used it at the track friday night and today it completely quit. It made the speedo go from 70 to 0, the rpm from 3000 to 0, then made the theft light flash and the check engine light come on. At that point it died and would not start again until I removed the chip from the computer.

This is a $350.00 piece of SH**.

Friday night when I was at the track with Spiro we saw a white lightning with a hypertech chip ($270.00) that helped him run 13.02 with the chip and 13.06 without. He said that he has been having ALOT of problems with his superchip and it was sent back numerous times. He said that he NEVER had a problem with his hypertech.

I am just wondering if we are the guinea pigs for the numerous programs they have for the lightning. I am going broke sendind it back and forth every week.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

H8 2 W8, I just went throught the same thing when I got my chip back from Superchip. I had also read about this on the chip threads. What happened to mine is that the chip came loose from the computer. What I did was take some velcro that has adhesive on it. Take and place a piece on each on the computer to the sides of the chip then take a long piece that will attach across the computer to hold the chip in place. I hope you can visualize this. If you want to, send me an e-mail so that I can give you better instruction.

I appreciate your info, but I had the chip duct taped onto the computer case. I too read about the chip coming loose, so I thought I would cure this by taping it on.

I tried to reinstall the chip tonight, but still no luck, it will not run in position 1 or 2.

I can`t believe it, I would be pissed off as well.Actually, John with the white Lightning was running 13.3 with the hypertech and 13.67 without,But he was running a 103+ M.P.H.As far as paying for all that shipping back and forth, thats bull sh**,they should pay for it(the least they could do).I`ll be in touch,keep me informed on the progress.Oh...I think I`ll be back at Cecil on the 11th and probably the 18th for test and tune.

Did you mean 13.2 with the Hypertech chip and 13.6 without? If you really meant 13.02 and 13.06, I'd say the Hypertech is an entire truckload of SH*T! To spend that kind of money to get .04 on your 1/4 mile time sucks bad. You could gain that much by just not "Super sizing" your Big Mac meal on your way to the track!

 

Hey Typhoon, the white Lightning did run 13.3 with the chip and 13.6 without, but even without any chip his truck was still running 103+... ( completely stock)go figure.

I ment that the white lightning was running 13.3 with the chip vs 13.67 without the chip with NO PROBLEMS. It sounds like the hypertech chip has all the bugs worked out.

After paying close attention to all the posts on chips for the last few months, since I don't have one yet, it was pretty obvious to me that Sal's chip was the problem free way to go.
Now I just gotta save up for it, AFTER I save up for the lowering job & Cal-Tracs!

Question for SAL: If I get a chip from you and decide to swap gears, and/or add NO2, how much will you charge for reburning? (just deciding whether I should wait to get that stuff done first, or get the chip first and worry about that stuff later)

I just got my superchip in. It seems to make a positive difference, but more testing is in order. The one disconcerting aspect of the superchip I have is that the 2-3 shift bogs which it didnt do stock.

 

Hey Mike,Sal here. Generally it costs $100 for a re-burn on one of my chips. But I *usually* don't charge that if someone purchased the chip from me to begin with, only if they already had a C&M Racing/Autologic chip from somewhere else, and needs a re-burn. Also, I don't charge extra if you want a custom program when you order the chip, and there is no need to send the chip back if you need a re-burn either.
