I want a Lighting
Hey ya'll. I'm new to the board. Been reading the board the last couple of days. I been considering buying a L. And I have decided that I NEED ONE OF THESE TRUCKS! I live in Plano, Texas and was wondering if anyone can direct me to a dealer that can give me a good deal. Bob Thomes Ford has quoted me $31,500 + T.T. & L. That is with none of the options. That is $1,000 over MSRP. Non-Negotiable. Help!!!

Up here in boston, people were paying $5000.00. over sticker for these trucks. i was the absolute 1st to order mine from my dealership in portsmouth n.h. i waited til august before i saw it.It is worth the wait and i only paid $27,995 for mine. its the only dealership that i have heard of taking off money not putting it on top of sticker. I feel very fortunate for having one at any price . theres only 4000 of us who are privledged and i am lucky to be one . if i knew they were making silver in 2000 i would have waited for sure.that is going to be the best color yet. I also heard they are only making them thru this year and thats it, so hold on to the ones you have, if they stop ours are going to be worth a lot of money.

spec on new lightnings go as follows:
no bed cover this year or at least they arent sure.
msrp is supposed to be 31k and some change. new color silver
new overhead console .
i think svt said they are only coming one way no options besides color, but i could be wrong
painted to match mirrors

Hey BADASSVT,
You didn't happen to go to Tommie Vaughn did you? I now for a fact that they were charging $2,000 over msrp (additional dealer profit) plus a deposit fee of about $500. That dealership is supposed to be one of the best, but I went to Bankston because i knew some people. Also, Bandston only charges msrp on everything. I will definitely take the 2000 to Tommie Vaughn (if they will have me) for service and what not. I've only heard good things about them in that department. Plus they are Motorsport friendly.
Oh...the bed cover is the ONLY option this year.

Well, it ain't a 2000, but check TybeeC5's post about his 99.5 for sale for around $25K and with I think 6K miles. I know this boy, and you can bet that truck has been pampered to the nines and never abused, ever.
He is in the Savanna Ga. area, a long way from Texas, but it might be worth a post to him to discuss it. For the difference, you could put $6/7 thousand in upgrades on the 99.5 and get beyond what the 2000 has as standard equipment. Probably skip some tax as well as it is "used".

Bill,
That was exactly my reasoning behind buying my White L used. I saved THOUSANDS over buying one new and the only thing that was wrong with the truck was the 12,000 miles on the clock. I still have 24,000 miles and 2 years on the warranty and about $6000 to drop on toys like Sal's products
I know 12,000 may sound like a lot but the ONLY thing worn was the tires, the underside looks new and all of the factory paper assembly tags look like it was just built. How he put 12,000 miles on the truck in 5 months is beyond me. Then again, I find reasons to go to Miami and Tampa that never made me want to go there before, just to bond with the L for a few hours. Kind of sick isn't it?
If I didn't already have one I would be seriously eyeing TybeeC5's.

Mark W,
So YOU were the Floridian who bought the L from Linton. You beat me to it. When I contacted Scott, he mentioned that someone from FL was flying in to look at it that Fri(?). The next Mon I told him that I was going to be in the Manassas-area, check in hand, the following week, but he told me it was too late. Oh well... Congrats on the fantastic buy!

actuually I beleive that Ford will be having a 4 year run of the Lightning this time. There is a RUMOR that they will be porducing a NEW engine for the 2001 year, making 450 hp, with possibly 3 valve heads. Like I said it is RUMOR, but very well could be. So they will be making them for more than 2 years though.
