Red face Lightning alarm went off.

Yep that's right, my stock passive alarm system. Tonight, after I had Cal Worthington's SVT Certified (hopefully) Technician re-torque the exhaust clamps. A couple of my friends and I were eating pizza and drinking soda for 21 year olds and thats when it happened. Honk Honk Honk.

I thought it was a passive alarm system. My Lighting is all stock. Has this happened to anyone else, or was one soda too much?

Hey Tundra,

The same thing happened to me about 3 months ago. I found out that when the keys were in my pants pocket sometimes the keys would hit the PANIC button on the remote. I took some of the keys off the ring and it hasn't none it since. Hope this helps.

I have a dumb question. On the L's is it a true passive alarm? Or do you have to manually press the arm/disarm button to operate?

Just so we set the record straight,

There is NO alarm system included from the factory on the Lightning.

We have a Passive Anti-Theft system. That equates to the computer chip key that's required to activate the ignition.

Ford Alarms for all '99 F-150s are dealer installed and consist of a Ford labeled Code Alert add on that uses your existing remote keyless entry key fobs. It adds a shock sensor and siren. It also has an ignition lockout but that's redundant with the computer key. It will only activate and deactivate with the keyless entry activation of the door locks so you can't activate it with the lock button on the door (or so I was told). It will also detect your dome light to alarm on entry, assuming it missed the window breaking

You had to have pressed the panic button on your remote. I've done it too.
